Our Editorial Policy

Every step, documented.

This page explains how content actually gets made at SiftPrime — how topics are chosen, how articles are written and checked, and what happens after publication. For how we test and score a specific product, see our Review Methodology.

How We Choose What to Cover

Coverage decisions are driven by reader demand and category relevance within our six focus areas — SaaS platforms, software and apps, physical products, financial services, digital services, and e-commerce brands — not by which merchant is easiest to get an affiliate link from. A product with no affiliate program at all is just as eligible for coverage as one that pays generously.

We prioritize categories where a wrong purchase is costly and where existing coverage online is thin, outdated, or reads like marketing copy rather than a genuine assessment.

Our Writing & Sourcing Standards

Every piece of content published on SiftPrime — not only product reviews — follows the same baseline standards:

  • Factual claims — pricing, specifications, statistics — trace back to a source we checked ourselves, not a press release repeated as fact.
  • Superlatives ("best," "fastest," "most reliable") are backed by a specific comparison, not used as filler.
  • Pricing and availability are checked at the time of publication and flagged for review as they age.
  • Any content generation assistance is used for drafting efficiency only — every factual claim and every score is reviewed and stands behind a named editor, not published unchecked.

How Content Moves From Idea to Published

At our current size, one editor — Hugo Vance — carries a piece through every stage below. As the team grows, review and publish will be separated between named individuals, and this page will be updated to reflect it.

Draft

Outline researched, testing (if applicable) completed.

Fact-Check

Every claim traced to a source or a recorded observation.

Editorial Review

Checked against this policy and, for reviews, the scoring methodology.

Publish

Goes live with a visible publish date and named author.

Monitor & Refresh

Revisited over time; updated when facts change.

How We Handle Corrections

Not every fix needs the same treatment. We separate corrections into two tiers:

Minor

Typos, formatting, dead links

Fixed on sight, no visible note required — these don't change what the article actually tells you.

Significant

Wrong facts, scores, or conclusions

Fixed immediately and marked with a visible "Corrected on [date]" note explaining what changed and why — nothing is silently rewritten.

To report an error, use our contact page or email contact@siftprime.com directly — every report is read by the editorial team, not routed to a general inbox.

Independence From Marketing & PR

Separate from the commission-independence covered in how we make money, we also maintain a firm line between editorial content and marketing:

We do not publish PR-supplied copy, ghost-written "reviews," or brand-provided scores as our own. Any content that involves a paid partnership or a provided sample is clearly labeled as such at the point it's introduced — never disguised as an independent verdict.
